Malaysia Medal - MP Questions MoD

North Thanet’s MP, Roger Gale, has today tabled a written parliamentary question calling on the Secretary of State for Defence (Des Browne) to confirm that the Queen has approved the wearing of the newly-awarded Malaysia medal alongside the other military campaign medals worn by forces veterans.

The move follows concern and disappointment from recipients whose delight at receiving both the medal and the news of Royal approval was tarnished by reports suggesting that the MoD had indicated that the Malaysia medal could not, in fact, be worn alongside others.

"It looks as though the Palace has sent out one message and the Government another" says Roger Gale. "Personally, I would trust the Palace but I hope that the Secretary of State will reflect on the matter and confirm that the veterans can wear their medal with the pride that they deserve".
