Hour for Ukraine

December 21st 2022

Today, on the darkest day of the year, people across the UK are joining others around the world to show solidarity with Ukraine.
Organisers of “An Hour for Ukraine” are asking people to switch off all festive lights and cut electricity in their homes for one hour at 20.00 on the 21 of December.
Lesia Vasylenko, Ukrainian MP and Co-Chair of Ukrainian British parliamentary friendship group said:
“Courtesy of Russian bombs Ukrainians shall have a very dark and cold Christmas this year. But even without the festivities our spirit remains unbreakable. This Christmas we ask for a symbolic act of togetherness and support for Ukraine from the whole world. 60 minutes with the lights off and thoughts on for Ukraine.”
Those taking part are encouraged to use #hourforukraine to bring awareness to the campaign through social media.
